Camp WAMAVA has been in operation since 1950 by Christians in metropolitan Washington D.C.. It has been in its present location in Linden VA since 1956. It's primary mission is spiritual. It exists to provide camping in a Christian environment and to glorify God. Emphasis is also placed on the physical and emotional growth of the young people who attend the camp. The encampment director and his staff are under the direction of the Camp WAMAVA Board of Directors. All of these people are Christians committed to offering the broadest possible program instilling spiritual, physical and emotional growth in each camper, regardless of the camper's race, color, national origin, religion, handicap or sex.

A look at an average day's activities serves to illustrate a balance in the program that is sought to put the camping experience in the proper perspective. Spiritual aspects of Camp WAMAVA are emphasized in at least two and one half hours of each day's program; including a morning devotional and two Bible classes. Physical and smotional growth received proper emphasis during periods of organized recreation and free time. These recreational activities include large and small group games, supervised swimming, hiking and crafts. Evenings feature memorable devotionals around the lake or in campfire settings. And to complete their physical growth need, campers enjoy three meals during the day and have snacks at "camteen" time.

Any boy or girl without regard to their race, color, national origin, religion, handicap or sex, who will be in grades 3 through 12 in the fall of 2005 and who is willing to abide by the camp rules may attend Camp WAMAVA. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis as they are received by the camp registrar. Campers in grades 4 through 9 may stay for a maximum or two (2) weeks.
