Companion For Young Children Wanted

Are you tired of your present surroundings?  Feeling forgotten, ‘boxed in’, or ‘pushed aside’ for something more fun?  A Child’s Joy is looking for Beanie Babies just like you!  You must love hugs & kisses, enjoy small children, fit well into a Christmas Stocking, and look cute sitting on a bed or shelf or peeking out of a book bag.  Compensation – well, we’re hoping that you’d be willing to ‘donate’ your time, but if not, we’ll negotiate!  If you have kept yourself in great shape and want to be a part of a Christmas morning surprise, have your current owners contact Denise Forgione at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Newborn Gift Packs

We are looking for baskets (large preferred, but will use almost any size).  If you have any you would like to donate or would like to buy them (think garage sales!) to donate, please place them in the boxes by the church office.  This new ministry is getting ready to begin.  If you are interested in joining us as we plan, please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. WFCM Thrift Store Service Opportunity

WFCM in Chantilly has expanded their Thrift Store space and extended their hours.  If you can help volunteer a few hours here and there, it would greatly help them to help our neighbors.  Contact Jen Adkins (Volunteer Coordinator – WFCM) at 703-988-9656, ext 106 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Clothing Ministry Update

With great excitement, our congregation will continue doing giveaways of food, clothing, and other basic needs to our members and our community.  In the spring and fall, FXCC will have big giveaways like the one we just finished.  In the summer and winter, FXCC will have "mini" giveaways.

For the mini events, FXCC will send personal invitations to those who came to the spring/fall events and also invite those in need in our congregation.  We will invite them to join us for second service, followed by a picnic or pot luck.  We will eat and fellowship with them and also allow them to "shop" over at the church house.  More details on this to come.  The team is thinking of a July date for this.

The next big giveaway will be September 26.  Mark your calendars!!!!  We are starting to form teams now to be ready.  We are looking for team leads for marketing, follow-up/thank you,  child care, and clean up.  There are ideas on other basic needs we could meet if we have team leads for them.  Some suggestions for possible additions are books, sporting equipment, school/art/craft supplies, car check, hair cuts, medical/dental.

Our members continue to be in touch with some of the people that came to the last event.  We have really been able to impact their lives and are hoping to keep that connection with them.  If you have a story that you would like to share about a connection you made at the giveaway, Geoffrey Athey would love to hear about it.  Please e-mail him so he can share your experience with others.

If you have ideas, would like to be involved in the planning, have a heart for leading a new (or current) team, please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it  or call 571-221-0977.

Help Support A Child's Joy

A Child's Joy has partnered with Giant to do the SCRIP. This is a program where you can go online and order Giant food cards or gift cards and A Child's Joy recieve's a portion of the money. This is an EASY way for our family to give back to the community and support A Child's Joy.

How to do it:

  1. Go to https://www.shopwithscrip.com
  2. Locate the orange box on the right hand side of your screen and click on Not a member? Click here.
  3. Enter in your family's information
  4. When asked for your enrollment code enter 616C984D1992L.  This is the number that
connects you to A Child's Joy account. You will not need to re-enter it every time.
  5. ORDER AWAY!!!! You will want to pay with PrestoPay, an online payment service, which is one of the payment options.

Melanie Drown receives the cards after the first day of the month and will get them to you at church within a week of receipt.

Thanks for supporting A Child's Joy!
