September 2007 - Suzie & Paul Elmore

In September 2007, the elders recognized Paul and Susie Elmore as our Honored Servants for September 2007.

Paul and Suzie live on Ordinary Way in Annandale, but there is nothing Ordinary about their service to God. Months ago when we first announced that we were going to begin honoring servant hearts in our congregation, FXCC Senior Minister Bruce Black received an email from one of our eight-graders. She said,

Mr. Bruce,

I was thinking about the Honored Servants and two people came to my mind, Paul and Susie Elmore. They both have had great impact on my life, spiritually and mentally. I have never met any other people as devoted to God and Service than them. Paul and Susie have always been there for me when times got tough. Just knowing that they were there if I needed them made me feel a great deal better. It would mean a lot to me, if they were honored. Thanks

Sarah

When we let others know we were honoring the Elmores, we heard a lot of the same types of comments:

Thank you for being the best teachers. And God said, “Let there be the Elmores and there was

Thank you for being such good teachers and for comforting me in my time of need.

From Ericka,
The Elmores are such great people. They made learning about God fun. I’m sure the Elmores have touched many kids lives. The most important thing to me, though, is that Mr. Elmore baptized me. I couldn’t have asked for a better person to do the job. That was the most important day of my life. We all love you.

Janey with a big smile on her face said,
They were fun! They taught with great songs I still remember!

Luke said,
They had cool stuff around the room and great snacks! They still talk to me when they see me at church.
Kate said, Thanks for the great parties
.

Bryana said,
You are my best teachers because you each us a lot about God and I’m so happy to be in your class. So I just want to say that I love you so much.

Alex said,
I really like the Elmores because they taught us lessons in the way we could remember. I really liked the lesson on sin where they had us carry a backpack around and it was heavy and that was like our sin…They Elmores are really good teachers and I am lucky to have had them. They are the best teachers I have ever had.

Morgan now well into her teens writes:
I have to say that so far, all my teachers at Fairfax have been great, but I mostly remember Mr. and Mrs. Elmore. They always made their teaching fun with songs that I still remember today. They also had fun activities. Even though I am in high school now, I would still like to be in their class today. God really gave them the gift of teaching, and I’m so glad they used that gift.

Whitney, another teen, said,
Mr. and Mrs. Elmore definitely deserve this honor. They are some of the most creative teachers I have ever had in bible class. The Elmores are dedicated to teaching their students bible truths and what their students need to know to develop their own faith. They not only teach these important lessons, but they live them out in their lives. They are loving and caring to their students. GThey make ach student feel special even after years of being out of their class. They have played a very important part in my life. So I would like to say, “thank you” to the Elmores for sharing their wisdom, not only in words with me, but with all the others who came after me.

Mr. and Mrs. Elmore - Thank you for your timeless devotion teaching us as little ones in Sunday School. Your work is deeply appreciated and has blessed our whole congregation. God bless you both,

From Andrea, a parent…
I thank God every time I remember Paul and Susie in my prayers. They have helped our boys grow to become faithful Christians by showing God’s love week after week and year after year. They are models for all of us.
