Mission and Vision of Our Distant Missions Ministry
Mission: To take the message of Jesus to people who are beyond the direct reach of Fairfax Church of Christ.

Vision: FXCC will be a mission-focused church supporting distant missions by:

  • Developing expertise and involvement in a particular mission domain (i.e. specialty ministries, geographic region, language, or culture) as part of our core identity
  • Engaging members to directly support evangelism and evangelistic humanitarian efforts.
  • Equipping members with skills and mission opportunities.
  • Seeking opportunities which complement local outreach ministries.
  • Partnering with effective ministries of other churches or organizations.
  • Providing prayer, encouragement, oversight and resources.

Czech Republic Missionary

We are pleased to be part of a mission in Olumouc, Czech Republic. Our own Graham Kervin is in the CR with a team of six other people to bring the good news of Jesus to lost souls. The Czech Republic is located in Eastern Europe and is known as the most irreligious county in Europe. A recent poll has shown that only 33.6% of Czechs belong to a religion. Given this country’s obvious need to hear the gospel, FXCC has decided to partner with Graham and support his evangelical work there. Having planned this mission effort for five years now, Graham and his team made it to the CR on October 28, 2006. They are looking to have planted a functional church within their first five years.

Note from Graham
(January 6, 2008) - I received your package yesterday and what an awesome package to get! Everything I pulled out was perfect and I couldn't stop salivating with each new item, ha ha. The dvds arrived in great shape, all of the food was in good condition. The ziplock bags were a terrific addition since, no, we can't come by big bags very easily. Thank you so much for sending all the Christmas cards! I loved opening up every single one and being touched by so many people who are active back home in helping this dream for the Kingdom become reality. You folks sure know how to make a missionary feel loved :) And even though it's getting colder and colder over here, I send my warmest greetings to all of you and hope you have wonderful holidays.

Dominican Republic Missionaries

The Dominican Republic is a mission led by Brian and Tammie Wallace who moved there in 1996 with their two children. The DR occupies 2/3 of the island of Hispaniola, which is located east of Cuba. The camp Brian and Tammie have founded is located in Caraquena, which is a small community on the northern coast of the DR. The outreach there is a mixture of humanitarian relief, combined with church-planting and discipleship efforts. Currently, FXCC sends a youth team and an adult to the DR every summer in order to encourage and support the missionaries there. Over 200 of our 1,000 members have participated in these trips over the years. With activities such as construction on orphanages and nearby homes, VBS, visiting the hospital, and ministering to the Haitian refugees living at the dump, this effort can use as much support as possible.

FXCC's own Bynum family is joining the Wallaces. Keep up on what's going on in the here.
