Primary Goals of the Worship Ministry |
|
To create an atmosphere in our corporate gatherings where:
Christians can worship God in spirit and in truth, without distraction, through songs, scripture readings, prayer, communion and offerings
Non-Christians can experience the gospel story through these worship activities, and can experience the God behind the story as well. (I Corinthians 14:25 and following) - Cause attendees to sing to God with joy, confidence and enthusiasm.
- Provide an environment of worship through which the Holy Spirit can convict our hearts of sin (prompting confession, repentance) or necessary actions (baptism, or reconciling with a friend).
- Equip attendees to learn/know any unfamiliar songs, whether new or old.
- Cultivate a sense of authentic community within our congregation that transcends stylistic preferences or traditions.
- Train & mentor others in all areas of worship leadership (singing, reading scripture, praying, serving, offering meditations prior to communion, etc.)

Key Scriptures Guiding Our Worship Ministry |
|
26What then shall we say, brothers? When you come together, everyone has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. All of these must be done for the strengthening of the church. [italics added] I Corintians 14:26. 19Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, 20always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:19-20. 16Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. Colossians 3:16. |

Read Music? Want to See the Notes? |
We know many of you like to view notated music scores as you worship instead of the front video screens. As a reminder, there are black notebooks at the information table which contain the sheet music for all of the songs (in order!) we are singing each Sunday. Pick one up on your way in, and return it as you head to Bible class. |
