Happy July 4th!

Just a quick reminder that we have one combined worship assembly this Sunday that will begin at 10 AM.  Right after our worship, we’ll have a cookout with hamburgers and hot dogs, chips, drinks and dessert.   We promise that you and your family and friends will get your food in less than ten minutes.  So, please plan on joining us.  We have a number of FXCC members who will be setting up, serving and cleaning up after the cookout.  There are plenty of jobs to do, so, if you’d like to help on Sunday just ask.  We’ll find somewhere for you to help.

Also, some big news on the mission front.  Plans were in place for a two week teen mission trip to Honduras to begin on July 12th.  Due to the political and social unrest in Honduras, that trip as been changed to a mission trip in Maine.  Our teens and chaperones will head out on Sunday, July 12th and spend two weeks working with a church in Augusta, Maine to reach out to their community.  Special thanks to Phil for making this change happen.  The church in Augusta is thrilled about our team coming and working with them.  Please keep this mission trip in your prayers as well as the people of Honduras who are struggling for peace.

In remembering that God has shared with us many different kinds of way we can share HIS word, we have a need for teachers and helpers this summer.

Yes – you may have told me in the past that you are not interested and that is fine.  But in case, you think you might want to give it a try – here is an opportunity!

God needs those of us with a gift for teaching and those of us with a gift for being nice to be helpers.

We need adults to come help!! You can be on several different teams, including: Registration, "People of Presence", Monitors, Snacks, Games, Crafts, Skits, Puppets, and Set/Up/Clean Up. Please help to make the Mobile VBS a success this summer! This year we are opting to do a Mobile VBS for the Chantilly Mews neighborhood. It will take place on 5 Wednesday evenings this summer (June 24th, July 8th, July 22nd, August 5th, and August 19th). We will have puppet shows, skits, crafts, face painting, snacks and just show that we care about the children in this neighborhood.

Our Father's Day shoes, boots and socks gathering will require big sturdy boxes to store and to ship the donations.  We are looking for boxes a bit larger than paper box size; approximately 16" x 21" x 20".  If you acquire or have large sturdy boxes that we can use, please bring them into the church office.

Please do not give out the home numbers of our volunteers to non-members.  If someone outside the church needs assistance, have them contact the office during normal business hours.  If immediate assistance is required, please make the initial contact with our member volunteer yourself.  Home phone numbers should never be given out. 

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) will participate in the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) summer food service program for children, a program established to ensure that low -- income children continue to receive nutritious meals when school is not in session.  Free meals that meet federal nutrition guidelines will be provided to children at approved sites throughout Fairfax County.  Meals will be provided to all children without charge. Acceptance and participation requirements for the program and all activities are the same for every child regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation, or marital or family status, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. Need help cleaning your yard up?  Know someone who needs help cleaning their yard up?  The youth group is looking for yards to work on for a service project on Monday, June 22.  If you or someone you know needs help, please contact Robby, B.J., Phil, or the church office to let them know.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS for our annual SUMMER PRAISE NIGHTS featuring contemporary Christian music and a challenging message.  The dates are Wednesday nights at 7:30 on June 17th, July 15th, and August 12th.

• Magazines - women's, kid's, sports and catalogs
