GOD, THE TRINITY
There is one God in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
THE FATHER
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, ever-present.
Genesis 1:1, 1:26, 3:22; Psalm 90:2; 1 Peter 1:2
THE SON
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He became human and lived a sinless life. He died on the cross to forgive our sins. God raised Jesus from the dead after three days to show His power over sin and death. He returned to heaven and will come again to bring His faithful followers to a home He has prepared for them.
Matthew 1:22-23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14-15; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans 1:3-4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14-15; Titus 2:13
THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Holy Spirit is everywhere in the world to make us aware of our need for Jesus Christ. He lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation and provides Christians with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. We seek to live under His daily control.
2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16-17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13-14; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:18
THE INSPIRED WORD OF GOD
The Bible is God’s Word to all people, written by the Holy Spirit through human authors. We believe God has made sure that the Bible has not changed through the years and is the only source of truth for Christian beliefs and living.
2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105, 119:160, 12:6; Proverbs 30:5
SIN & SEPARATION
We are made to become like God. We can do a lot of good, but our attitude of disobedience separates us from God. This disobedience is called sin.
SIN PROBLEM: God warned us that when we sin, we would die. Spiritual death is a separation from God by destroying our relationship with God (Isaiah 59:2). Paul wrote, “…all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” Romans 3:23.
Genesis 1:27; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 64:6; 1 John 1:8; Romans 6:23; Ecclesiastes 12:7
SALVATION
We believe that God gives us salvation (forgiveness of sin) because of the death of Jesus on the cross. Mark 16:15-16; Acts 17:30; Romans 3:21-24; Romans 5:1; Romans 8:1; Romans 10:9; Ephesians 2:5
BELIEVE that Jesus is the Son of God.
John 8:24; John 12:42-43; James 2:19; John 6:29; John 14:21; Hebrews 11:6
REPENT is to change from sinful living to Christian living.
Luke 13:3; Acts 17:30; 2 Peter 3:9; 2 Corinthians 7:10; Matthew 22:37; Romans 2:4
CONFESS (tell others) that Jesus is Lord.
Matt 10:32-33; Luke 9:26; Rom 10:9-10; Acts 8:36-37; Mark 8:38; Matthew 16:16-17
BE BAPTIZED (submerged in water) for forgiveness of sin and receive the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:16; Acts 2:37-38; Acts 5:29; Acts 9:5-9; Acts 22:16; Romans 6:1-11; Galatians 3:26-27; Colossians 2:11-13; 1 Peter 3:21
LOVE and OBEY God.
John 14:15; John 15:9-14; John 14:23-24; 1 John 1:5
THE CHURCH, THE BODY OF CHRIST
The church is not a building; it is a group of believers who serve God and share His vision, mission, and values.
Matthew 28:19-20; John 10:10; Acts 2:36-47; 1 Corinthians 12:27; Ephesians 4:11-14
ETERNAL LIFE
The choices we make during our short time on earth determine where we spend eternity: in heaven with God or in hell, separated from God.
John 3:16; 1 John 2:25, 5:11-13; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15
